In India’s interest, Adani Ports will no longer be handling cargo from Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan from 15 November. Adani Ports have issued a trade advisory, which will be effective from 15 November; Adani Ports will no longer be engaging in export-import (EXIM) of containerized cargo originating from the aforementioned countries.
The trade advisory applies to terminals operated by the Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ), including third-party terminals at ports without any further notice.
About the seizure, the Adani Ports have reportedly said that operators of the port are not permitted to examine the containers. The company has no policing authority over any container or tonnes of cargoes that pass via the port terminals.
An official based in Gujarat has said at the time that two individuals had been arrested in connection with the haul.
The containers had been declared as carrying semi-processed talc stones from Afghanistan. The same had been shipped to Mundra port in Gujarat from Iran’s Bandar Abbas Port. He added that the forensic tests had confirmed the presence of heroin.
