174,000cbm LNGC & 16,000TEU Container Ship Construction Financed By China Shipbuilding Leasing

On January 5, China Shipbuilding Leasing provided financing, Construction of the first 16,000TEU container ship, the largest container ship built in South China so far, undertaken by Guangzhou Shipbuilding International, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, started smoothly. So far, China Ship Leasing has achieved a three-point combo of picking up ships in the new year, starting construction and signing contracts.

At the same time, on January 4, China Shipbuilding Leasing received an 86,000-cubic-meter very large dual-fuel liquefied gas carrier (VLGC) built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

On January 6, China Shipbuilding Leasing, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and Hudong Zhonghua renewed the construction order for a 174,000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, which is also the first order signed by China Shipbuilding and Hudong Zhonghua in 2022.

This type of ship has a total length of 295 meters, a width of 45 meters, a depth of 26.25 meters, and a speed of 19.5 knots. It adopts the world’s latest generation dual-fuel low-speed propulsion power system to further optimize performance and reduce energy consumption. This type of ship is equipped with advanced environmental protection devices, which have reached the world-class level in terms of technical performance, environmental protection indicators, and reliability requirements.

This renewal is the last ship in the 2+1+1 174,000-cubic-meter LNG carrier construction contract signed between China Shipbuilding Leasing and Hudong Zhonghua. At present, all the ships in this series have come into effect, 2 have been delivered and 1 is under construction.
