A 508-TEU German feeder boxship reportedly ran aground off Denmark in the early hours of Friday morning. The ship’s captain was arrested after he was suspected of being drunk during the incident.
The 1998-built Ragna got stuck in the strait between the Jutland Peninsula, famous as the Little Belt, and the island of Funen as it set sail from Federicia port to Germany’s Bremerhaven.
The Maritime Assistance Service warned the Funen authorities on observing an abnormal sailing pattern of the ship before the accident. The police mentioned that they had detained the 33-year-old German national to have him submit to an alcohol test.
The incident occurred almost 200 m northeast of Strib, about 2.00 hrs in local time. There were no reports of significant injuries, immediate damages, or oil spills to the vessel. AIS data reflects that the ship is stuck in the Little Belt and not under command.
Equasis mentioned that the 100 m-long German-flagged ships were owned by RAGNA and managed by Ohle Jurgen Reederei.
