Officers on the Carnival Spirit observed the boat with about two dozen individuals stranded as the vessel was moving toward Aruba, sailing between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
The two dozen seamen were brought onto the vessel and taken to safety, the statement mentioned. The medical personnel found them to be in a stable state.
On rescuing the stranded sailors, the vessel’s officers contacted the Coast Guard from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic to see if a transfer could be facilitated.
At around 3 p.m., a Coast Guard cutter reached to execute the transfer close to La Romana in the Dominican Republic, and Carnival Spirit resumed the voyage, the statement highlighted. The cruise line didn’t share what 24 people were doing in the boat or where the Coast Guard had transferred to them.
