World’s Largest Floating Book Fair Comes To Dubai

The Logos Hope Campaign was founded in 2004 with the intention of “sharing knowledge, aid, and hope.” It is a ship that was built in Germany in 1973 to hold commodities and was later purchased by a Danish Faroe Islands ferry firm to transport passengers and freight between Iceland and Norway.

It has previously visited over 130 ports in 76 nations.

The vessel was purchased in March 2004 by Good Books For All, a German non-profit that organises various floating book fairs that move throughout the world.

People can learn more about the book fair and browse the various titles available till late at night.

This year, Logos Hope will dock at Basra, Iraq, before proceeding to Ras Al Khaimah Port from April 11th to April 16th, then to Dubai’s Port Rashid (April 18th-23rd), and finally to Abu Dhabi’s Cruise Terminal in Marsa Mina/Port Zayed (May 17th – June 5th).

Science, sports, food, arts, medical, languages, and faith are among the categories, as are children’s books, academic literature, and dictionaries/atlases.

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony with speeches by Romanian head captain Ionut Vlad, as well as entertainment such as a children’s play, treasure hunt performances by foreign artists, and an arts market.

While tourists peruse, an enlightening documentary and interactive displays are on display at the Welcome Centre on board; food is available at the café!

Logos Hope has previously moored in Lebanon and Egypt (65K tourists in the first ten days), Jordan and Saudi Arabia, as well as Djibouti and Iraq, since 2011. Every year, almost 1 million individuals from approximately 60 different nations peacefully visit Logos Hope!

Funds are raised by volunteers’ friends/families/organizations, making this journey an uplifting demonstration of worldwide camaraderie and understanding – they’ll be visiting Manama and Doha in June, Muscat in July, and Salalah in August!
