For many maritime enthusiasts, pitting against the elements and the world’s waters is the ultimate challenge. These challenges can provide an incredible test of endurance, skill, and in some cases bravery. Having been established in the 17th century, yacht races have evolved to become globally renowned races that influence yacht manufacturing styles, and attract an enormous following at ports around the world.
East Fremantle Yacht Club has compiled a list of some of the most prestigious and established yacht races in the world. Some of the races require a team effort in order to be successful, while others races are focused solely on individual skill and determination. The aim of this infographic is to inform those with an interest in yacht racing, and sport in general, on the history of these exciting races, as well as providing information on the distance travelled and routes taken.
