Russian Ships Seem To Be Loaded With Ukraine’s Grain Per New Satellite Images

Russia seems to be ramping up the theft of Ukraine’s grain as the war in Ukraine continues escalating in absence of a breakthrough ceasefire agreement. Per new and most recent imagery from the satellite of the port of Sevastopol provided by Maxar Technologies, two Russian flagged bulk carrier vessels are shown loading and docking with what is considered to be Ukrainian grain that has been stolen.

Earlier on, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of stealing Ukraine’s food products and also trying to sell them. The images, released by Maxar Technologies, are dated May 19 and May 21. Per CNN, the images reflect ships, the Matros Koshka and Matros Pozynich docked next to what seems like grain silos with grains pouring off a belt in an open hold.

Both vessels have reportedly departed from the port, stated the report citing the ship-tracking site MarineTraffic.com. Notably, the Matros Pozynich is now sailing in the Aegean Sea wanting to be moving toward Beirut while Matros Kashka is in the Black Sea.

However, it is still difficult to assess if the vessel is getting loaded with grains that have been stolen from Ukraine but, per the report, Russia-annexed Crimea produces an only insignificant amount of grain by itself. In the meanwhile, regions like Zaporizhzhia and Kherson are considered rich agriculturally in war-torn Ukraine, the routes of which have been blocked by Russia, triggering food shortages by international organizations.
