Ukraine-Russia War Victim Seafarer’s Family To Receive $500,000 As Compensation

As compensation, the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) will pay USD 500,000 for Hadisur Rahman’s death. Hadisur was working as the third engineer on a Bangladeshi ship named the “Banglar Samriddhi”, when he was shot dead in a rocket attack at a port in Ukraine on 3 March.

The other members will be paid seven months’ salary. Hadisur’s brother was offered employment at the BSC. He will start working with the organization on 1 June.

The declaration was made at the 312th Board of Directors’ meeting of the BSC on Wednesday at the BSC Tower in Dhaka. The Chair of the BSC Board of Directors and the Minister of State for Shipping, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, presided over the meeting.

Those present in the meeting like BSC’s independent director, Dr. Md Abdur Rahman, and Shipping Secretary, Md Mostafa Kamal, expressed sympathy for Hadisur’s family.
