Vessel With Ukrainian Grain Reaches Yemen As Part Of The Ukraine Humanitarian Food Program

As part of the Grain from Ukraine initiative of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the ship named Negmar Cicek successfully delivered humanitarian cargo – nearly 30,000 tons of wheat – to the Republic of Yemen’s Port of Salif.

This is the Grain from Ukraine initiative’s sixth batch of grain, introduced to overcome the worldwide food crisis, specifically in countries that suffer terribly from hunger. This batch’s shipment to Yemen was strongly backed by the UN World Food Programme (WFP). The credit also goes to the financial aid extended by the governments of the US, Spain, and France.

Per the Head of State, even in the conditions of a Russian invasion, Ukraine helps the world guarantee security and stability and resists the chaos and food crisis that have been a consequence of the Russian invasion.

Nearly 30 thousand tons of Ukraine’s grain will help nearly 1.7 million residents belonging to Yemen to feed their families for about a month.

Such steps within the Grain from the Ukraine humanitarian program were adopted by Ukraine with its partners to support African countries, particularly Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya.

Andriy Yermak, the Head of the Office of the President, added that by implementing grain from Ukraine’s presidential humanitarian program, Ukraine strives to fulfil its obligations to the world community when it comes to global food security. The world cannot be without grain from Ukraine.

Representatives of Ukraine and the Republic of Yemen agreed on more joint efforts to establish maximum food security in that region. It was observed that the Ukrainian state is going to continue supporting the Yemenis, irrespective of the war and efforts of Russia to block the export of Ukrainian food.

The grain from Ukraine’s humanitarian program introduced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is specifically designed to establish the transportation of agricultural products via Ukrainian ports and prevent hunger in the world’s most vulnerable nations.

Since the start of the implementation of the initiative, Ukraine has reportedly sent out 170 thousand tons of wheat to countries with the most difficult food situations, including Yemen, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya.

Over 30 nations and international institutions, including the EU nations, the US, Japan, Korea, Canada, Great Britain, and Qatar, have also joined the Grain from Ukraine mission, raising over $200 million in terms of donations.
