23 Year Old Woman Dies In Australia After Falling From A Cruise Vessel

The body of a 23-year-old woman was reportedly found on Wednesday off Australia in the ocean after she allegedly fell overboard from a cruise vessel.

Crew members on the Pacific Explorer reported that the passenger was missing at around midnight when the ship was around 70 kilometres out to sea from Cape Jaffa in South Australia.

Overnight, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority launched one of its rescue planes that was further accompanied by two helicopters by daybreak. Searchers said they found the unnamed woman’s body in the water before 7 am.

The cruise vessel, accommodating about 2,000 guests, departed from Melbourne on Tuesday and was bound for South Australia’s Kangaroo Island on a four-night return trip.

Cruise ship major, Carnival Australia, mentioned that it was a tragic and unfortunate outcome.

The company mentioned that they would keep providing care and assistance to the family member the deceased guest was travelling with. The firm also extended its deepest condolences to the loved ones.

Carnival Australia added that the death “deeply impacted” guests and crew members. South Australian police informed us that the visit to Kangaroo Island was cancelled. It added that Victoria Police would investigate the circumstances regarding such a death.

Weather conditions were “deplorable” with big seas and strong winds, Dan Gillis, one of the duty managers with the safety authority, informed the Australian Broadcasting Corp.

Gillis mentioned that the woman’s body was taken by helicopter to Adelaide after being carried to a nearby hospital for proper identification.
