On Tuesday, the Coast Guard medevaced the ship captain of a sailing vessel about 17 miles offshore in Dulac, Louisiana.
The Coast Guard Sector, New Orleans watchstanders, reportedly received a call at around 10:44 a.m. on VHF-FM channel 16 from the ship’s captain of the sailing vessel, mentioning that he’d injured his shoulder on falling owing to rough seas.
Failing to navigate the sailing vessel safely, the captain requested a medevac. The watchstanders further coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station named the New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk’s aircrew members to assist.
The aircrew members reached the spot, hoisted the captain, and then transferred him to the University Medical Center, based in New Orleans.
Per the latest reports, the captain was in a stable state.
