Two crew members on a Celebrity cruise ship suffered chemical burns on 2 June. They were rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia.
The crew members suffered injuries when working. Earlier in the day, the cruise ship contacted the Coast Guard Fifth District Command Center that responds to maritime accidents in the US mid-Atlantic region.
They sought medical assistance for the crew members. The Celebrity cruise ship was about 70 miles from the Virginia shore when the accident occurred.
The Coast Guard dispatched a crew on MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Elizabeth City in North Carolina. They flew a ship doctor and the injured members to the hospital.
