Coast Guard Successfully Rescues Foreign-Flagged Ship Off Southern Turkey

The Turkish Coast Guard command successfully rescued a cargo vessel flying the Marshall Islands flag off the southern coast of Turkey after experiencing the plight of the signal, the Ministry of National Defense mentioned on Tuesday.

The shipping firm flying the flag of the Marshall Islands reportedly sent “Paulo Topek” out plight call off the Kass coast on 19 September, about 100 nm toward the south of “Cas”, mentioned the ministry on Twitter.

A drone was used to locate the ship was found by a drone. Bafra and Goksu (two frigates) were sent to the cargo ship’s location.

Per information from various news sources, the “merchant vessel” Paolo Topek, which carries about 300 accident victims, was transferred immediately to Antalya by the Coast Guard of Turkey.

No more information on the vessel’s distress has yet been revealed.

The ship had 283 irregular migrants onboard when it let out a distress signal around 9:41 p.m. (local time) on Monday, per the Anadolu Agency (AA).
