Fire In The Turkish Port Of Iskenderun Under Control

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake, catastrophe broke out in the Iskenderun port of Turkey as the fire engulfed the port forcing authorities to shut it down temporarily. On Wednesday, February 8, the maritime authorities contained the fire with combined air, water and land efforts.

Earlier, the maritime authorities revealed that all ships had been diverted as the port wasn’t in a condition to provide ship handling services.

While the nature of the fire remains unknown, it didn’t get to the storage area where flammable materials were present. A huge amount of smoke was seen during the fire, which may have come from some chemicals or plastic materials stored in the containers.
