A general cargo vessel named BBC UTAH reportedly ran aground on 9 Feb in Weser river as it was sailing downstream to Sunderland, UK, from Bremen.
Grounding resulted from mechanical malfunction; the ship’s bow was stuck in the river bank.
The responding tug stabilized the vessel, preventing the hull from turning around.
A little after midnight, BBC UTAH was again refloated by the tugs and taken back to Bremen, where she was berthed as of the morning of 10 February.
