Indian Coast Guard Evacuates Severely Injured Chief Officer Of Singapore-Flagged Vessel In Mumbai

Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (better known as MRCC), Mumbai, got information from the Singapore-flagged vessel dubbed MV Hafina Express that was sailing to Singapore from Kuwait regarding the 42-year-old Chief Officer who got a fractured left knee that needed immediate medical attention to prevent further complications.

Considering the criticality of this patient, the ICG medical officer provided much-needed medical advice, and the Indian Coast Guard vessel named the ICGS C-439 was then dispatched. The ICG Ship conducted its medical evacuation of the injured patient at 50 N miles toward the west of Mumbai.

The patient was safely transferred to Candy Hospital in Mumbai for medical management in coordination with other stakeholders.

Prompt and professional coordination by the ICG resulted in offering immediate relief to the critically injured Chief Officer named Milind Tamore and further facilitated the continuation of maritime trade.

The prompt and safe evacuation is an example of the ICG assets living up to the motto “We protect”.
