Japan’s Defense officials mentioned that a destroyer vessel was involved in an accident off the country’s southwestern coast. The Maritime Self-Defense Force ship may have hit the rocks underwater and cannot navigate.
It happened close to an island based in the Yamaguchi Prefecture on Tuesday afternoon. Japan’s Coast Guard states that the crew members reported a massive tremor while sailing. The destroyer Inazuma is currently at the site at anchor.
Footage captured by an NHK helicopter reflects oil floating behind the vessel, with crew members placing sheets on the water to absorb the oil.
The Coast Guard and Maritime Self-Defense Force have sent vessels to investigate.
Officials have mentioned that no one was injured.
