A tanker vessel had reportedly been detained at 14.1 nm off the northwest by the Labuan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) on May 21 (Saturday).
Captain Nurdin Jusoh, the director, mentioned on May 22 (Sunday) that an MMEA boat had stumbled on the tanker around 10 am when it was patrolling the area.
He said that on examination it was found that the crew comprising two Indonesian nationals and three Indians, aged between 25 years and 42 years, were on the vessel with an expired domestic shipping license (DSL).
The Indonesian nationals who were not carrying valid documents were detained for further examination as the vessel was being towed to Patau-Patau toward the MMEA jetty.
The case is currently under investigation per the Merchant Shipping Ordinance (MSO 1952) and the Immigration Act 1959/63.
