Petrobras declared that it has begun the contracting procedure to charter two platform vessels dedicated to the Sergipe Deepwater Project (SEAP), based in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, approximately 100 kms off the coast.
The FPSO kind units are expected to be highly strategic to extend further the availability of national gas while launching a new production frontier in the Northeast.
The firm explains that each platform (SEAP I and II) are going to bear the capacity to process about 120 thousand barrels of oil each day.
The oil in this zone is light and is known to be of great quality, between 38 and 41 degrees API. Hence, they also have a high commercial value.
Together, the units can bear the potential to offer about 18 million cubic meters of gas each day.
Petrobras further mentioned that with a significant volume of gas, the assignment opens up a brand new horizon for investments, inviting a set of opportunities for the whole sector and for Alagoas and Sergipe.
Besides, it is also going to facilitate a brand new technological milestone: the induction of a production project at a water depth of above 2,500 meters (hitting up to about three thousand meters), incorporating newer innovations.
The two FPSOs are going to be chartered units. In their technical specifications, Petrobras used advanced solutions like improvements in the treatments and injection system for the water generated in the reservoir and new technologies with higher efficiency in lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
