The Philippine Coast Guard based in Surigao del Norte, widely referred to as PCG-SDN, has reportedly helped a captain of a ship who experienced a mild stroke off the Surigao City coast on Sunday.
Via Romeo Dax Calamaya, the station commander, the PCG-SDN could dispatch a Deployable Response Group right away to Surigao City’s northeast, where the vessel was anchored temporarily, the PCG-SDN explained in its statement on Monday.
PCG’s office declared that it responded immediately to the distress call and dispatched the experts via the Harbor Master of the Philippine Ports Authority while it was underway from Davao City and sailing for Batangas City.
The ship’s captain was Virgilio M. Palado. He is 59 and hails from Bulacan City. He is the skipper of MV Pearl Orient.
The PCG-SDN further explained that he was provided with preliminary medical assistance and then administered oxygen to enable respiratory recovery.
The patient was transported to the closest hospital based in Surigao City for further medical attention.
