Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 23rd that it had won an order for four LNG carriers worth 998.5 billion won from a shipping company in Africa. The vessel is expected to be delivered by September 2025.
The ship received this time is equipped with eco-friendly and smart ship technologies such as SAVER Air and SVESSEL independently developed by Samsung Heavy Industries, so it is possible to efficiently respond to environmental regulations tightened by an economic operation such as fuel economy improvement.
Samsung Heavy Industries’ representative eco-friendly technology, ‘Saver Air’, is a type of ESD (Energy Saving Device) that improves fuel efficiency by spraying air on the bottom of the hull to reduce the frictional resistance of the ship.
A Samsung Heavy Industries official said, “Considering the increase in global LNG cargo volume and the demand for replacement of ships due to the strengthening of IMO environmental regulations, the LNG carrier order trend is expected to continue this year.” We will do our best to achieve this.”
Meanwhile, Samsung Heavy Industries’ order target for this year is $8.8 billion, and this order has achieved 9%.
