In a significant development, South Korea has issued new covid guidelines for any crew coming from China over a fresh surge in COVID cases in China.
The new regulations warrant a COVID negative test result at the Korean ports.
As per the new regulation, crew members from ships with a history of China visits must take a PCR test and one day of quarantine if they are disembarking at Korean ports.

GAC officials have underlined that the expenditure required for these tests and quarantine has to be sanctioned before disembarkation.
China has recently done away with their zero covid policy. It’s crucial since 80% of containers entering Korean ports are from China. This came when the crew change procedure returned to normal after two years of pandemic restrictions.
