Ukraine on 21 March alleged that Russia’s military had stolen five grain-laden ships. The vessels that were stolen from the Berdyansk port were loaded with thousands of tonnes of grain, per Oleksandr Starukh, governor of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, in a televised interview on 21 March. Per eyewitnesses, Russia’s tugboats took the vessels.
He went on and added that the specific location of the ships would soon be revealed. Berdyansk has been taken over temporarily by the enemy, as reported earlier by local media agencies. Besides, Ukraine rejected Russia’s demands to surrender Mariupol on Monday, where its residents are besieged, and intense fighting shows zero signs of easing.
The case is going to be tackled by prosecutors in southern Zaporizhzhia. Russia did not comment on the statement shared by the general prosector’s office.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s President, strongly criticized Russia for the bombing of an art school based in Mariupol in a video speech delivered early morning on Monday. When the school was attacked, he said over 400 citizens had taken refuge there. Zelenskyy said that they are beneath the rubble, and nobody knows how many managed to survive.
On 20 March, the White House declared that Joe Biden, the US President, will visit Poland as part of his week-long journey to Europe to conduct crucial meetings with European partners and NATO over the Ukraine issue.
